we have bike to school day. we host that at the end of the school year, somewhere in the late spring. we had close to 2000. we thought we would have more, but there was a pouring rain storm a half-hour before the event. we are considering moving it to may because of the weather considerations the past couple of years. we focus on trying to establish walking school buses and bike chains. this has been identified as a best practice for safe routes to schools nationwide, from the national center. this is basically a group of students better chaperoned by adults that are either walking or biking together. we have regular even said george washington carver, buena vista, and other schools. we will like to establish these as regular events at each one of the schools we're working in. most importantly, parent- caregiver outreach, because we want to create that culture. that exists at longfellow and all of our schools, about walking andhmtpú biking to scho. then we evaluate everything we do. so we have student travel ta

we are creating parity in this instance between bike parking and car parking. any sponsor that wants to go beyond what their requirements say is this incentivized now. a -- is disincentivized now. one parking space for every other unit is too little if you want a lot of bite. -- a lot of bikes. and the bicycle could take up a big part of your unit. in these transit rich areas, we think this is good public policy. the other is reactivating the corner commercial uses. we have sort of done an about- face in city planning. in the 1960's we said we will have residential districts, commercial districts, and manufacturing districts and never the twain shall meet. that is a poor match for san francisco. a lot of the existing commercial buildings in these districts were given a reprieve. but that's based can never be reactivated. it has lapsed. a great example in my neighborhood trifuno the corner of 20th and guerrero, that cannot be used as a residential unit because people will be looking in your front window. this would allow the reactivation of those spaces, as well
